What is the Eastbourne Shed
The Eastbourne Shed project started in a garage in Myrtle Road in 2014 and thanks to funding from the Lottery, membership fees and some individual fundraising we now have three Sheds across the town – Eastbourne Shed, Langney Shed at Langney Priory and Hampden Park Shed.
Where people aged 50+ can experience the joy and fun of pottering about in a shed, but doing it with like-minded people, supplying good company. Shedders are involved in woodworking, wood turning, refurbishing old tools and machines, personal projects and community projects.
The purpose of The Sheds
A Shed is a place for making, mending and hobbies where men (and women) will feel at home and pursue practical interests with a high degree of autonomy – a self directed space for constructive activity that can help to address social connections among older men – mostly those post retirement age or over 50 years of age – a place to meet new friends and regain a sense of purpose.
